You keep telling yourself your kid isn't “one of those” specialized athletes. They play soccer in the fall, maybe basketball in the winter, and then they're on the travel team in the spring. That's not really year-round, right? Wrong. If your child is training in one sport for more than eight months a year and has dropped every other sport, researchers have a name for them: highly specialized.
